Soul On Wax Making Memories
Soul On Wax was originally founded by DJ Lee Vowles, who set up a Facebook group called Grooves Own. Lee then involved Dean Carr, Sara Baker and Jo March and the Soul On Wax brand was born. The Facebook group changed it's name and their first event was the St Ives Northern Soul weekender back in 2016. Sadly we lost Lee in 2018 but his legacy and vision continues to this day.
Keeping Soul Music Real
Our Story
Soul On Wax found there first event in St Ives was a massive success and was attended by like-minded soul lovers from all over the United Kingdom.
The team who had run a couple of events in Newquay mainly all dayers, then decided to turn Newquay into a soul weekender and booked the fabulous Legacy Victoria Hotel as their venue of choice. The Soul On Wax team was also involved in setting up and promoting the iconic Stratford upon Avon, All dayers which has unfortunately now been turned into a theatre. Former Yate Soul Club DJ and radio presenter, Jerry Hipkiss also joined the Newquay DJ team as one of our resident soul spinners. Sadly Jerry passed away in 2020.
Moving Forward
Future Vision
In 2022 Soul On Wax joined forces with Hugh and Rico from Soul Mafia in South Wales, with the idea of holding a large weekend event in the South West. A site was found in Kewstoke, Weston-super-Mare that was in an ideal location. Plans where put together to create a premier soul event. The former Pontins holiday park was under going a refurbishment and re-branding, which made it perfect for what we where looking for as a team. The first event was launched, with a live performance from the incredible Soulutions and two fabulous rooms full of sweet soul music. The event was a massive success and tickets for 2024 sold out within weeks of going on sale.
